D1.2: Formalized Framework for Product-Services

In global, unpredictable and dynamic environments – such as the automotive market – the development of innovative services could represent a key success factor for the creation of a new concept of collaborative and robust supply chain. On the basis of a new co-operative approach, emerging business models – both B2B and B2C – promote the establishment of new relationships among different actors to carry on planning, management and implementation activities, at different levels (supply chain and plant levels). If the new business models are effective, the resulting added-value will be higher and shared by all the parties involved, establishing a win-win situation.
In this deliverable, a reference framework is proposed to outline these innovative services: it is a unique Macro-Service, designed to permit the co-evolution of products/processes/production systems and to support partnerships at various levels, in order to smooth the propagation of internal and external disturbances and disruptive events. This holistic view is the starting point, whose main goal is to characterize and define Innovative Product-Services, related to the Use Cases of the Application Domain defined in Deliverable 1.1. In particular a detailed description of the proposed product-services is presented in the form of different implementation scenarios: they are analysed in order to highlight the related business models which allow to create value for all actors involved in service delivery/fruition. For scenario, a sub-schema, derived from the Macro-Service, is presented, that shows the responsibilities, the relations and the roles played by the different stakeholders in the involved supply chain.
Specific services are selected for each Use Case, according to the priorities identified by the industrial partners of the RobustPlaNet consortium, gathered with an ad-hoc designed questionnaire. The selected scenarios are described in a more detailed way, using a flow chart approach. Moreover, for each of them the variables that could affect the definition of the underlying financial and revenue model are pointed out. Based on the feedback and evaluation of the partners corresponding to each of the proposed services the extension of this detailed representations and financial analysis can be a useful next step. For those services that are considered innovative and promising under the above evaluation, the proposed analysis, enriched with case-dependent data, is suggested before their implementation.

D1.3: Formalization of the multi-level (plant-supply chain) decision making problem

The project aims at developing an innovative technology-based business approach, new methods and tools to solve the problems of the existing rigid supply chain mechanisms and to achieve more collaborative and robust production networks able to timely deliver innovative product-services in very dynamic and unpredictable, global environments.
The project takes an overall view from the beginning, trying to analyze, model and harmonize the plant level and supply chain level decision processes to achieve a more stable behavior of lower and upper level production entities in less predictable and disturbed environment. The development of the project’s objective is based on four major pillars, namely (i) innovative supply services, (ii) innovative product-services enabled by ICT, (iii) innovative methodologies for decision-making integrating the plant and the supply network level and (iv) innovative business and assessment models for value creation based on partnership.
This deliverable was assembled in the Task 1.3 of the project as a part of the WP1 activities and can be regarded as a task in establishing pillar iii from the above list. The main aim of the deliverable is to summarize both the supply chain and plant level related structures, models and planning methods with special emphasis on the interaction between these elements and the option to integrate them into a common framework for supporting the plant and supply chain related planning decisions making in an integrative way considering the multi-level decision making aspects. This is achieved with a multi-level view following the well-established decision hierarchy structure of production systems. The supply chain related planning and the plant level related planning are separated in two different sub-sections both outlining the main problems and methods which are relevant in the RobustPlaNet project. Most of the planning problems are analytically formalized and form the base of the solution algorithms to be developed in the second part of the project. The most relevant Key Performance Indicators of the planning levels are also detailed in the deliverable.
Finally the document suggests a functional framework, including both the plant and supply chain level structures, together with the location of methods and tools to be used in the supporting of planning decisions. This framework is now the conceptual backbone of the Simulation and Navigation Cockpit, the final decision-support ITC system of RobustPlaNet. The deliverable is concluded with how the framework is correlated with different demonstration use-cases of RobustPlaNet.

D3.1: Supply Chain decision-support framework

This deliverable presents a conceptual framework for decision-support in supply chain networks. It is mainly related to Task 3.1. The main objective of the developed framework is to specify the elements of robust supply chain management. Therein, the main focus is on performance indicators for decision making in supply chain management. Furthermore methods for the evaluation of the supply chain performance and robustness are central aspects of the developed framework and described in detail. This Deliverable interrelates with Deliverable 3.2 (Industrial Supply Chain description) and Deliverable 1.3 (Formalization of the multi-level (plant-supply chain) decision making problem).
According to the aim of the RobustPlaNet project this framework will support decision maker in supply chain management to transform current supply chains into collaborative and robust supply chain networks. These are able to timely deliver products in a very dynamic, disruptive and uncertain global environment. The framework enable planning and operating in robust supply chains and will help to improve the robustness of the individual plants in the supply chain on the one hand and support a better cooperation of thepartner along the supply chain on the other hand. Both aspects together will lead to collaborative and robust supply chain networks.

D6.1: Project website

The project's official website is located at the following address:

The site provides the overview of the RobustPlaNet, the most important highlights related to it, and tries to give up-to-date information on project results. These include public reports and publications, as well as synthesis reports drawn from selected material; project events, including, e.g., project meetings, conferences and workshops; contact details. From design point of view, the graphics and the text in the animated banner summaries the main application domains and demonstration fields to be developed in RobustPlaNet.
Parallel to the public side the site also is the entrance of the internal collaboration and reporting facility of the RobustPlaNet consortium. In the second part of this document screenshots are given about the user interfaces which support the communication and collaboration inside the project.

D6.2: 1st version of the Awareness & Dissemination plan

Workpackage 6 is devoted to dissemination and exploitation activities that have to ensure the maximum impact of the results of the project. The associated objectives are:

  • To communicate, share and transfer relevant knowledge about the project results to the European manufacturing industry and technology providers in particular as well as the entire European industry and academic community in general.
  • To guide the project towards an adequate exploitation strategy.

This document describes the results of deliverable 6.2. As such, it constitutes the first version of the awareness and dissemination plan. The document is organized in three chapters. Chapter 1 describes the strategic analysis performed for ensuring a successful dissemination plan. Details re provided on the objectives for dissemination, targeted audiences, and lifecycle phases of dissemination. Chapter 2 describes the concrete dissemination plan that will rule further dissemination of the project. It has been chosen to develop a systematic, decentralized and synchronous dissemination protocol that will ensure continuity in disseminating project results towards academic and industrial audiences. This protocol has been implemented and tested successfully during the first half of the project. The coming months will focus on the recurrent application of the protocol, which is managed by UTWENTE with the support of SZTAKI. Chapter 3 presents the main dissemination results that have been produced during the first half of the project. Dissemination output at this point of the project include:

  • Project web site
  • Papers presentations in conferences and journals
  • 1st Newsletter edition
  • Creation of folders, posters and a general project presentation
  • Submission of contribution describing the projects rationales and output methods at CIRP international Conference on Manufacturing Systems.
  • Projects Cluster establishment on Resilient Production Networks
  • Continuous news updates on website
  • Added project status and details in the EFFRA Innovation Portal.
  • Creation of CORDIS profile.

Having a this concrete plan at this phase of the project ensures that project results will be successfully disseminated.

D7.1: Governance structure, communication flow and methods, Quality plan

The document presents the RobustPlaNet management structure, procedures of the project work and the processes to be used to guarantee quality deliverables. These procedures have the objective to guarantee the high quality of the deliverables and ensure a successful dissemination and exploitation of its results and last but not least to facilitate the ongoing work.
Specific and precise procedures are described and presented here to avoid any problem in handling the deliverables, in ensuring effective communication and coordination during the work in the project and last but not least in supporting the dissemination and exploitation activities of the RobustPlaNet.
The procedure of monitoring the status of the project (technical advancements and budget/effort consumption) is also detailed in the document. This process is supported by a web service within the private area of the RobustPlaNet web server. Moreover, activities for managing possible problems during the project implementation like delays, critical technical problem, etc., are also highlighted in D7.1.
